Did anyone else find smoothies easier than soups? I thought soups would be my thing too, but smoothies ended up being way less stressful on my jaw...maybe the cold helped numb things a bit.

Interesting you mentioned the cold helping numb things...for me, it was the total opposite. Smoothies felt way too cold and actually made my jaw ache more. I ended up preferring lukewarm soups—nothing too hot or cold. Maybe it's different sensitivities or nerve reactions? Strangely enough, room temp blended oatmeal became my go-to comfort. Weird, I know, but it worked wonders for me. Did anyone else experience temperature sensitivity shifting around post-surgery?

Yeah, this is pretty common actually. Post-surgery nerves can get super sensitive to temperature extremes—cold or hot. I've had plenty of patients mention the same thing. Lukewarm or room temp foods usually hit the sweet spot. And hey, blended oatmeal isn't weird at all...I've heard stranger go-to meals from folks recovering. Whatever works!

Totally get this, smoothies killed me too at first. Weirdly enough, lukewarm mashed potatoes were my lifesaver. Sounds gross, but hey, desperate times call for desperate measures...

Mashed potatoes, huh? Never thought of that one... sounds kinda appealing actually, especially after my kiddo's week-long smoothie strike. We tried literally everything—banana smoothies, protein shakes, even blended soups—but nope, nothing stuck. I was starting to think we'd have to survive on melted ice cream alone (which, honestly, he wouldn't have minded).

Then one day, out of sheer desperation, I blended up some mac and cheese into a soupy mush. Looked awful, but oddly enough he loved it. Go figure. It's funny how taste buds seem to change completely when chewing isn't an option.

Did you ever experiment with savory stuff like soups or broth-based things? Smoothies are great and all, but I feel like savory options might've been easier for us to handle long-term. Curious if anyone else found savory foods easier to stomach than sweet stuff after surgery...
