So, I finally bit the bullet and got braces put on a few months ago. I'm in my early 30s, so yeah, not exactly the prime age for metal-mouth territory, lol. Honestly, I was pretty nervous at firstβfelt like I'd be back in middle school again, awkward smiles and all that jazz. But weirdly enough, after the initial awkwardness wore off, I started feeling kinda good about it. Like, I'm actually doing something proactive for myself after years of putting it off.
I've also been using this orthodontic wax stuff to stop the brackets from shredding my cheeks (lifesaver, seriously). And I gotta admit, seeing my teeth slowly move into place is oddly satisfying. I mean, it's not exactly glamorous, but it's kinda boosted my self-esteem in a weird way. Like, hey, I'm taking control here.
Just wondering if anyone else who's gotten braces as an adult had a similar experience? Or am I just being overly optimistic here, haha.
I got mine put on about two weeks ago at 28, and honestly, I'm still in the anxious stage, haha. Glad to hear it gets better though... right now I'm still awkwardly covering my mouth when I laugh and constantly paranoid about spinach getting stuck everywhere. But I totally relate to the wax thing, literally saved my sanity. Did you find the soreness eased up after a while, or am I doomed to live off mashed potatoes forever?
