Honestly, I'm way past the age where thumb sucking is cute or acceptable, but I still catch myself doing it when I'm stressed or zoning out. It's embarrassing and frustrating... anyone else dealing with this?

I totally get where you're coming from... I had a similar habit (biting my nails) that stuck around way longer than I'd like to admit. Honestly, habits like these can really mess with your teeth alignment and oral health over time, so it's good you're aware of it. For me, keeping my hands busy helped—like fidget toys or even just doodling when I'm stressed. Might be worth trying something similar to redirect that impulse?

I feel you on this one... habits like these are tough to shake, especially when they're tied to stress or anxiety. Have you noticed if there's a particular trigger or situation that makes you more likely to thumb-suck? For me, figuring out what set off my anxiety helped a lot in managing it. Also, don't beat yourself up too much—you're already aware and trying to change, which is honestly half the battle. You've got this.

Yeah, anxiety's a biggie for me too. Did your orthodontist ever mention thumb-sucking to you? Mine brought it up once, and I've been hyper-aware ever since... honestly made me even more anxious about it. I've noticed it's worse when I'm zoning out watching TV or scrolling on my phone—like my brain just goes on autopilot. Trying to keep my hands busy helps a bit, but it's still tricky. Have you found anything that distracts you enough to break the habit?
