I just read somewhere that chewing sugar-free gum after meals can actually help prevent cavities because it boosts saliva production, which neutralizes acids. I mean, I always thought gum was just for fresh breath or boredom, you know? Kinda surprised me. Wonder if anyone else has heard of other random tips or facts like this...

I've heard about the gum thing too, and my dentist actually recommended it a while back. Another tip she gave me was to wait at least 30 minutes after eating before brushing your teeth—especially if you've had something acidic like citrus or soda. Apparently, brushing too soon can damage enamel because the acids temporarily soften it. I used to brush immediately after meals thinking it was best, but turns out patience pays off...

That's a really good tip about waiting after acidic foods—I learned that one the hard way too. Another thing I've found helpful is rinsing my mouth with plain water right after meals. It doesn't replace brushing, obviously, but it helps wash away some of the acids and food particles until it's safe to brush. Plus, staying hydrated is always a bonus for overall oral health...at least that's what my dentist keeps reminding me, haha.

I had no idea about the waiting thing after acidic foods until literally last week when I stumbled across it online—now I'm paranoid I've already done damage, haha. The water rinse sounds like a good compromise though. Honestly, my dentist has me so anxious about enamel erosion that I've started carrying around a travel-sized mouthwash bottle everywhere...probably overkill, but better safe than sorry, right? Does anyone else do that or am I just being overly cautious again?

You're definitely not alone—I went through a similar phase after my dentist mentioned enamel erosion. Honestly, rinsing with plain water is usually enough... mouthwash everywhere might be a bit much, but hey, peace of mind counts for something, right?
