It's funny you mention rain sounds causing tension—I actually had a similar experience myself. When I was preparing for my root canal, I tried the whole rain ambiance thing thinking it'd calm me down, but it just made me hyper-aware of every little noise. Eventually, I switched to ocean waves instead...the rhythmic ebb and flow seemed less intrusive somehow. Guess everyone's brain is wired differently when it comes to relaxation sounds. Hope you find what works best for you soon!

Interesting you mention ocean waves—I had a patient once who swore by forest sounds, birds chirping and all that. But personally, I find those bird noises way too distracting...like I'm constantly waiting for the next chirp. Ocean waves do seem gentler somehow, maybe because they're predictable? Anyway, good on you for experimenting and figuring out what clicks. Oral surgery prep can be stressful enough without battling your relaxation playlist too. Hope everything goes smoothly!

Ocean waves are definitely the way to go for me too. I tried forest sounds once, thinking it would be all peaceful and zen, but nope...felt like I was stuck in a Disney movie with overly enthusiastic birds auditioning for a solo. Honestly, I ended up more stressed than relaxed, just waiting for the next chirp to hit.

Funny enough, my best relaxation success came from a super cheap white noise app with a "fan" setting. It reminded me of summers as a kid, sleeping with a box fan running to beat the heat. Nostalgia plus monotony is apparently my sweet spot. Anyway, good luck with the surgery prep—sounds like you've got a solid plan figured out. Remember, whatever works for you is the right choice. Fingers crossed for a smooth experience and speedy recovery!

Haha, I totally get this! I had a patient once who brought in her own little portable fan for oral surgery—said it reminded her of childhood summers at grandma's house. She breezed right through the procedure, calm as could be. You're spot on about finding whatever clicks for you personally. Sounds like you're well-prepared and have a solid strategy in place...you've got this. Wishing you a smooth procedure and quick healing afterward.

Haha, that's actually pretty clever. I remember when I had my wisdom teeth out, I made a playlist of old cartoons I watched as a kid. Something about hearing those familiar voices just made everything feel...less intense. You're definitely onto something with the nostalgia trick!
