I can totally relate to this. My parents tried everything too—bitter nail polish, rewards charts, you name it. Nothing worked until around first grade when a classmate loudly pointed out my thumb-sucking habit during storytime. I felt mortified...but honestly, that embarrassment was the wake-up call I needed. Peer pressure isn't always great, but in my case, it definitely nudged me toward breaking the habit.
Still, I wouldn't rely on teasing or embarrassment as a parenting strategy. Kids can be pretty sensitive, and you never know how they'll react emotionally. Maybe gently explaining why it's important to stop or finding a comforting alternative could help ease the transition? Every kid's different, after all.
